Open Enrollment Procedures

  • Each student seeking open enrollment must submit a properly completed application annually and must meet all district admission standards.
  • Students seeking to enroll in Yuma Online Distance Academy (YODA) are not eligible for open enrollment.
  • Students are placed on waiting lists based on the date and time of submission of open enrollment applications, per Governing Board Procedure 5-105.A.
  • PROCEDURE 5-105.A: Open enrollment applications for the upcoming school year will be available starting January 1. Applications submitted between January 1 and March 15 will be numbered in the order they are received and placed on a waiting list. If sufficient capacity exists, applicants will be notified of their acceptance after March 15. If capacity is limited, applicants will be chosen from the waiting list through a random selection process, unless otherwise dictated by policy. A random number generator will be used to select students based on available space at the schools(s). A recording of the selection process will be available through a link on the District website, and applicants will be informed of their acceptance or denial after March 15. Applications not selected through the random process will remain on the waiting list in the order they were received and will be considered as space becomes available. Additional selection dates will be posted on the District website.
  • Students who move into the District for the first (1st) time will be allowed to apply for open enrollment upon their arrival.
