Gila Ridge teacher chosen as Navy Impact Influencer

Zaksheske receives award Gila Ridge High School teacher Matthew Zaksheske was presented with the prestigious U.S. Navy Impact Influencer Award this week.

Zaksheske is a psychology and sociology teacher at Gila Ridge. This is his eighth year with the school.

Zaksheske, or “Mr. Z”, as most of his students call him, was nominated by 2017-18 GRHS graduate Bailey Phillip Bacon for the Impact Influencer Award for Zaksheske’s role in advising students to explore their passions and find the most meaningful venue for positive societal impact.

“I am very happy to have been selected for the award,” Zaksheske said. “But I am more than happy to have been impactful enough to earn it.”

The award is presented to educators, mentors, and coaches across the nation who personify the Navy’s core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment.
