Gila Ridge football offers an assist at Crossroads Mission

The Gila Ridge High School football team took part in a community service project at Yuma’s Crossroads Mission Thrift Store on Wednesday, July 24, 2019.GRHS football helps at Crossroads Mission

Student-athletes cleaned up the showroom, helped organize donations, dusted, threw away large trash items, and cleaned up the area around the store. The thrift store staff said they were very appreciative of the assistance, and were able to get ahead of their daily tasks due to the generous assistance from the Hawks.

“This was a great opportunity for the Gila Ridge football program to give back to our great community here in Yuma,” said Gila Ridge football coach John Ellegeood, who is entering his first year with the program.

The Hawks went 6-4 last season, including a six-game winning streak in which they shut out two opponents and held all six opponents to 17 points or fewer. They return several key starters on both sides of the ball, including two-way star D’Angelo Jackson, quarterback Kaleb Cota and receiver David Randle. Gila Ridge hosts Brawley in their 2019 season opener on Friday, Aug. 23.
