Gila Ridge senior becomes licensed real estate agent

Gila Ridge High School senior Madison Cooper recently obtained her Arizona Real Estate license after she passed both the state and national real estate exams.

Cooper was recommended to this exam by Harry Elliot of Elliot Homes, who suggested she become certified as a sub-agent. The requirements for this license are strenuous and require 90 hours pre-licensing and cover a multitude of areas including property valuation/ appraisal, contracts, federal laws and many other categories. Madison Cooper

“It was definitely a lot of time management skills needed in order to balance regular school and real estate classes,” Cooper said. “Many of the classes here at Gila Ridge really helped me. In our Government class we talked about imminent domain, and definitely my math classes have been a huge help.”

While taking evening class in preparation of these exams she has maintained a 4.0 grade point average and remained active in the local and school communities. She serves as a Yuma County 4H Ambassador and holds a Para Professional Certificate that she obtained while taking Childhood Development classes at Gila Ridge. The Career & Technical Education course provides students an opportunity to work hands on with children in the “Little Hawks Play School.”

“After graduation I plan on continuing to work as a sub-agent at Elliot Homes while attending Arizona Western College where I want to major in Elementary Education,” said Cooper.
