Girls basketball to host annual 5K ‘Hawk Trot’

The Gila Ridge High School girls basketball team will be hosting its fourth annual 5K “Hawk Trot” on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 9 a.m. The “Hawk Trot” will consist of an alternate 1-mile route as well. The starting location will be in the north parking lot of Gila Ridge High near the tennis courts.

The cost of the run is $10 for students 11-18 years old and $20 for adults. T-shirts will be provided for those who pre-register by Nov. 11.

The course will be set up for two hours and medals will be awarded to the first-place winners in the following age groups: men and women 20 and under, 21-30 years of age, 31-40 years of age, and 41 and over.

“This is the fourth year of the Hawk Trot and we are excited to keep this excellent tradition,” Gila Ridge girls basketball head coach Bill Reinson said. “This is a great event for people of all running abilities, come out and run, walk or jog and support the Hawks.”

Refreshments will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go to benefit the Gila Ridge basketball program to help with cost of travel, tournament fees and uniforms for the upcoming season.
