Gila Ridge High School would like to congratulate alumnus Marco Jaime for being a part of the Mexico Under 23 Baseball World Cup championship team.

As a shortstop and pitcher, Jaime hit .370 with four home runs and 32 runs batted in his senior year at Gila Ridge. This past summer he was selected as the Most Valuable Player for the Bravos where he played in a combined 70 games over two split summer seasons amassing 48 hits and 20 RBIs.

Team Mexico won its first-ever baseball title with a 2-1 win over Japan in a dramatic ten-inning final, which was played in front of 6,500 fans in Edgar Renteria stadium in Barranquilla, Colombia on Oct. 28, 2018. The team finished the 12-team tournament with a 7-2 record.
