YUHSD to allow parents/guardians for ‘home’ and ‘visiting’ teams in accordance with AIA announcement

Yuma Union High School District athletic programs will allow two parents/guardians per student-athlete from each “home” and “visiting” team for winter athletic events, beginning Monday, Feb. 8, 2021.

The change is following an announcement by the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) Executive Board on Thursday, which stated “due to improving COVID-19 metrics up to two parents and legal guardians may attend their student-athletes home and away games as allowed by the school and county guidelines.”

YUHSD Athletic Directors have worked jointly with the City of Yuma and City of San Luis to ensure the proper steps are taken for parents/guardians to attend competitions.

Each parent/guardian will be required to complete a COVID-19 visitor’s waiver electronically via BlueInk and will still need to pay an entrance fee. Additionally, to provide opportunities for fans who are unable to attend in person to follow athletics, YUHSD will make select games available via live streaming.

Parents/guardians in attendance are expected to wear masks and follow all safety protocols.
