YUHSD swim championship gets underway Friday

SLHS swimmer The 2020 Yuma Union High School District swim championships will take place Friday and Saturday at the Valley Aquatic Center (VAC).

The meet gets underway Friday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. with Saturday’s events starting at 8 a.m. Unlike the Arizona Interscholastic Association State Swim and Dive Championships, the district competition will permit a limited number of spectators to attend. Student-athletes competing in the event may select two (2) fans, using the Google Form provided by their respective athletic offices. There is no entrance fee.

While some YUHSD athletic venues expanded their limitation to four (4) spectators, with all five YUHSD swim programs competing, the small seating area at the VAC facility cannot accommodate that level of capacity and adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Masks will be required for those in attendance.

A livestream of both Friday and Saturday’s events can be found on Cibola High School’s official Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CibolaHighSchoolRaiders. A Facebook account is not required to watch.
