YUHSD student nutrition to provide meal service routes, meals for YODA students

Yuma Union High School District’s student nutrition department announced two changes Monday, August 17, both aimed to assist YUHSD families in receiving no-cost meals.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, effective immediately, all students enrolled in Yuma Online Distance Academy (YODA) are now eligible for no-cost, grab-and-go meals at the “brick-and-mortar” campus they attended in 2019-20. For example: if a student attended San Luis High School last year, but is now enrolled in YODA, they would be eligible to pick up breakfast and lunch each day.

No-cost meal service takes place Monday through Friday at all six YUHSD campuses from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Additionally, to better serve families who are not able to visit a campus at the designated meal times while schools are in distance learning only, the student nutrition department will provide service along several major bus routes in the district. These stops are open to any YUHSD student. A student ID card or identification number is required to obtain a meal, and parent/guardians are permitted to pick up. Service will begin Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Please note: Route stops are subject to change based on student participation. Families are asked to anticipate possible delays as arrival times are estimates and should look for a YUHSD vehicle and Student Nutrition Services staff.
