Yuma High School Student Council to host district-wide Sweetheart Dance Charity Ball

The Yuma High School Student Council is hosting a Sweetheart Charity Ball on Friday, Feb. 14 from 7:30-11:30 p.m. at The Legacy on Main in historic downtown Yuma. The dance is open to all Yuma Union High School District students.

Tickets are $20 and will be on sale from February 3-13. Students interested in attending may contact their school’s Student Council, or Yuma High School Student Council to purchase a ticket. Students must attend a YUHSD school to attend, and must provide a school ID the night of the event. Additionally, a permission slip must be turned in prior to the event.

All proceeds from ticket sales go to the Crossroads Mission and the Salvation Army.

“This is a project we have looked forward to for a very long time and something that we are super passionate about,” YHS senior and Student Body President David Amavisca said. “We hope to sell out our 500 tickets to raise over $10,000.00 for these local charities in our community, as well as, represent our district and city while doing so.”

A highlight of the event will be the opportunity for students to get a photo taken by Luigi Photos at the photo booth. Legacy on Main is located at 185 S. Main Street.

The event was funded by a community grant from the Arizona Diamondbacks that Yuma High Student Council was awarded last spring.
