YUHSD hosting second Canvas training session for staff

Yuma Union High School District is offering its second Canvas professional development session at the District Office on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019.

Each session will last an hour with session 1 beginning at 4 p.m. and session 2 beginning promptly afterwards.

Staff members can sign up here.

According to YUHSD Director of Educational Technology and Learning Management Melissa Ellegood, "in session 1 we will go over a very simple and easy way to use assignments in Canvas.  This session is intended for beginner users. Teachers will be able to slowly move into using Canvas with using a mix of technology and paper to complete assignments. Please bring your device with you. You will receive an hour of professional development credit.

"The second session will show teachers how to become completely paperless for assignments.  This is for users that have used Canvas and are somewhat familiar with it. If you attended the session on July 25, this will be a repeat of information. You will receive an hour of professional development credit."

More than 30 teachers attended a Canvas professional development in July. Most often, teachers utilize the Canvas learning management platform to post projects, documents and classwork.
