NBA Champion to hold presentation for Yuma-area parents and athletes on Aug. 6

NBA champion and longtime Boston Celtics and L.A. Clippers assistant coach Kevin Eastman will be presenting to Yuma-area student-athletes and parents on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the Kofa High School Auditorium.

The presentation will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. and is open to all Yuma-area families and students.

Eastman, who spoke at the Yuma Union High School District professional development day in February 2018, will talk about the responsibility of being an athlete, how to be the best teammate, how to develop yourself as an athlete and person, and share his experience as a parent and coach. The session will include a question-and-answer portion at its conclusion.

For more than a decade, Eastman served as an assistant coach to Doc Rivers with the Celtics and Clippers before transitioning into the Clippers’ front office in 2015 and now speaking full-time. He was one of the lead assistants on the 2008 Celtics title team that defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in six games and coached in the NBA Finals two years later. In 2018, Eastman released his first book, “Why the Best are the Best: 25 Powerful Words that Impact and Define Champions,” which draws from the affable coach’s more than 40 years in athletics.

Prior to meeting with parents and athletes, Eastman will conduct a professional development session for YUHSD coaches.
