Cibola Choir performs at ‘Uniquely Gowan Global Gathering’

Cibola High School Choir performed and volunteered for more than 600 attendees from a dozen countries at the “Uniquely Gowan Global Gathering” on Nov. 5, 2018 in downtown Yuma.

Beginning in the Historic Theatre, Cibola's Performing Choir opened with "Let the River Run.”  Following this, students helped serve food and water for the dinner portion of the event, which was under a large, beautifully decorated tent on a lot across from City Hall.  As they served, they also surrounded the tables and performed "Africa."  To close the evening, the students again surrounded the tables and performed "We Are the World." CHS choir

“Those in attendance were beyond enthusiastic about having the choir kids there and hearing them sing,” Cibola Choir Director Brandon Stroup said. “One lady, who is from London, said, ‘I want you to bring your kids to London to sing at my wedding! I haven't found a husband yet, but when I do, come over!’ On a more serious note, Yanna Kruse, the museum director of the Sanguinetti House told us, ‘As impressed as I am with your kids' singing, I'm mostly impressed with how kind and how polite they are.  Being around them truly gives me hope for the future.’”

Cibola’s choir will perform at their annual winter concert on campus in December.
