YUHSD website content recognized with ASPRA award
The Arizona School Public Relations Association (ASPRA) Executive Board recognized Yuma Union High School District’s websites with an award of merit in the area of website content/writing.
Each year, ASPRA recognizes standards of excellence in school public relations through its ASPRA*tions Awards. It is the second time YUHSD has been awarded by ASPRA. The district was recognized in 2017 for its Ready Now Yuma campaign.
“It is an honor to be recognized by ASPRA and see Yuma Union High School District recognized alongside other school districts in Arizona,” YUHSD Communications Director Eric Patten said. “We relaunched our websites in January and have placed an emphasis on providing original content to highlight some of the things that make our district special.”
YUHSD has communications liaisons at each campus, who coordinate content for their respective sites, including writing and photography. This year’s liaisons are Kevin Swearingin (Cibola), James Kuzniak (Gila Ridge), Ian Coltman (Kofa), Adrianne Wagner (San Luis), Chris Franey (Vista Alternative) and Nick Johnson (Yuma).
Entries for this year’s ASPRA*tions were judged for professional quality. Criteria included clarity of writing, appropriateness and freshness of content, graphic presentation, ease of use and download time. For all electronic media entries, judges looked for effective writing and messaging integrated with design or visuals. Evidence of effective planning process, quality and clarity of goals, measurements and outcomes were also evaluated.
ASPRA is a professional organization that provides support to educators involved in school public relations, as well as professional development activities for school public relations specialists.
