Superintendent Thompson selected for Education Advisory Board

Yuma Union High School District Superintendent Gina Thompson has been selected to serve as a member of the Illuminate Education Advisory Board.

The commitment spans two years and involves attending the Illuminate Education User Conference (IEUC), where Thompson will sit on an advisory panel addressing more than 1,500 attendees, and a kick-off event in November at Illuminate’s main office in Irvine, California. Gina Thompson

“It is without question an honor to be selected,” Thompson said. “I have been fortunate enough to have great mentorship as an administrator and to be able to pass along some of that experience to others and gain even more professional learning will certainly be gratifying. More importantly, though, the opportunity to be a part of large-scale, important conversations centered on students and trends in education will allow our district to continue its work in having every student prepared for college, career and the community after graduation.”

The purpose and goals of the Board are:

  • To learn key strategies from colleagues that leaders must implement to address current educational trends and plan for student success
  • To ensure Illuminate tools and services provide an equal opportunity for all students to succeed
  • To guide, cultivate, and nurture relationships with district leaders

Illuminate CEO Christine Willig, in a letter of congratulations to Thompson, said, “You were selected from an extraordinarily talented and accomplished group of district leaders. We look forward to welcoming you to the Board and working with you during the exciting two years ahead.”
