Kofa High School student artwork selected in state economic poster contest
Kofa High School student, Marco Rios, had his artwork selected for the Arizona Council on Economic Education’s 2023 Economic Concepts Poster Contest. Only 13 students from grades K-12 were selected out of over 400 artwork submissions.
“For my artwork to be selected is pretty surreal for me as I never thought my artwork would be chosen, so it means so much,” Rios said. “What inspired me to make this art piece is how items go up in prices and how I wouldn't be able to afford certain items the next time I came back to purchase them.”
Winning submissions will be published in a 12-month calendar for 2024. Calendars will be sent to the teachers, families, and principals of state-winning students as a gift this December.
Rios also has the chance to win a $500 cash prize. Winners for that will be selected before the end of 2023.
The purpose of the Economic Concepts Poster Contest is to provide an engaging, hands-on activity to help students understand economic, personal finance, and entrepreneurship concepts.
