Cibola High School earns AVID Site of Distinction
YUMA, AZ – Cibola High School was recently certified as an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Schoolwide Site of Distinction. The distinction is the highest level of AVID implementation, demonstrating excellence in instructional practice and the promotion of college readiness school wide.
“We know that AVID makes a difference in the lives of our students,” CHS English teacher and AVID Site Coordinator Kristin Collins said. “Every teacher at Cibola has made it a priority to have high expectations, break down barriers, and prepare our students for wherever they go after CHS. We are proud of the work we have done, and look forward to continuing our commitment to AVID.”
CHS offers AVID strategies in the classroom and an AVID elective course, which prepares students for college, career and community through organization strategies, focused note-taking, college and career research, college applications, scholarship applications, tutoring, and post-secondary counseling.
CHS joins Kofa High School and San Luis High School, earning their distinction in 2020 and 2019, respectively.
