San Luis High School will host a “Jazz Night” concert on March 28, 2023 at 6 p.m. in the San Luis High School Performing Arts Center.

The event was organized by SLHS Band Director Martin Peralta and will include performances from Cibola High School, Gila Ridge High School, San Luis High School, and Yuma High School jazz bands.

“We all see this as a way of unifying the varied schools that make up YUHSD and giving our students a chance to celebrate their peers and themselves.” YHS Band Director Tab Wilcox said. “Having all the local jazz bands perform together for one event is reaffirming our collaborative mission to create sustainability in the music ecosystem of Yuma County by showcasing the hard work of our students and hopefully motivating others, both young and old, to engage with the rich music culture surrounding us.”

Admission to the concert is free. Bands will perform various jazz pieces, such as “I Wish,” “Spain,” “Bayside Groovin’,” “Birdland,” and much more. 

“I am excited to see how the other jazz programs are doing with their music and this event is an exciting opportunity to play for each other,”  YHS Alto Saxophone Briana Lorona said.
