Cibola swimmer signs with Xavier University

Amon signing with her parents and coach nearbyDecorated Cibola High School swimmer Emma Amon signed a letter of intent to continue her athletic career at Xavier University in Cincinnati during a ceremony on Monday, Nov. 15, 2021 at the Valley Aquatic Center. She plans to major in nursing.

“I’m super excited,” said Amon, who was flanked by her mother and father at the signing. “It’s something I’ve been dreaming about since I was super little and started swimming. I really couldn’t have done it without my team and amazing coaches.”

Amon finished fourth overall in the 200m individual medley and sixth overall in the 100m breaststroke at the Arizona Interscholastic Association state championships last week.

“Emma is awesome,” CHS swim coach Brad Broschat said. “She’s got four years under her belt, and each year she’s surpassed records. She’s an awesome team leader. It’s great to see her see the fruit of her efforts and be able to swim in college.”

Xavier’s women’s team finished third in the Big East Conference championship meet last spring after returning six all-conference performers from 2020.
