YUHSD, YRMC partner for no-cost sports physical days

Sports physicals flyerYuma Union High School District and Yuma Regional Medical Center will host three Sports Physical Days in the coming weeks to perform physical examinations required by the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) to participate in athletics for the 2021-22 school year.

Student-athletes will be able to get their physicals done, by appointment, at no cost beginning Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 8 a.m. to noon at the YRMC Family Medicine Center.

San Luis High School will host a free physical event on Tuesday, August 3 from 5-7 p.m. followed by another event at Yuma High School on Thursday, August 5 from 5-7 p.m. No appointment is needed for the events held at YUHSD campuses.

"YRMC providing this opportunity for our student-athletes has a profound impact on the student athlete's ability to get cleared for the upcoming year,” SLHS Assistant Principal David Barrios said. “What makes this opportunity such a success, besides it being free to the student-athlete, is YRMC's willingness to travel to different campuses within Yuma County, which increases accessibility to all families."

Families can register today by visiting yumaregional.org/sportsphysicals and download the required annual “pre-participation” form. For more information, please call (928) 336-2711.

“We are excited to partner with the Yuma Union High School District to offer these sports physical events,” said Dr. Ryan Zerr, Program Director of Yuma Regional Medical Center’s Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. “After a year of such uncertainty, it is important for us to get student athletes safely into sports again.”
