Yuma Union High School District and Yuma Regional Medical Center will host a no-cost Sports Physical day on Thursday, Aug. 4 to perform physical examinations required by the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) for student-athlete participation in athletics for the 2022-23 school year.
The event is open to all YUHSD students and will take place at Gila Ridge High School (7150 E. 24th Street). Doors open at 4 p.m. with exams beginning at 4:30 p.m. Doors close at 7:30 p.m. No appointment is needed.
While exams will be conducted at no-cost, a parent or guardian still MUST be in attendance with their child.
"YRMC providing this opportunity for our student-athletes has a profound impact on the student athlete's ability to get cleared for the upcoming year,” GRHS Assistant Principal David Barrios said. “Many of our student-athletes take extra time to get cleared due to barriers such as cost and with YRMC’s help, especially that of Dr. Ryan Zerr, we are able to remove one of those barriers when it comes to the AIA-required physical exam.”
