YUHSD Special Services department holding Child Find informational meeting on Nov. 6

Yuma Union High School District Special Services will host an informational meeting about Child Find on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019 at 5 p.m. held at the district office’s professional development room located at 3150 South Avenue A.

Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) mandates school districts to find children who have disabilities and need services as a part of the Child Find process. Early Identification of children with disabilities is an important first step towards getting them the services they need to succeed in school.

YUHSD offers screening to locate, identify, and evaluate all children who may have a disability as part of its child find efforts.

Suman Pangasa, YUHSD Executive Director of Student Services, said, “We encourage parents or guardians of a student who is currently homeschooled or privately placed having a disability or  suspected of having difficulty with learning, communication, vision, hearing, behavior, or motor control and coordination, please contact our special education department or attend our meeting on Nov. 6.”

YUHSD Special Services can be reached at (928) 502-6752.
