Migrant Family Night brings informational resources to families
Yuma Union High School District held its 6th Annual Migrant Family Night on Monday, Oct. 2 with more than 60 parents and students in attendance at Tierra Del Sol Elementary School in Somerton, Arizona. The event, which has been held at various schools throughout Yuma County over the years, brought families together to learn about everything from college and career readiness to community health. Presenters included: the AWC and ASU College Assistance Migrant Programs (CAMP), Ready Now Yuma, Sunset Community Health, YUHSD’s Zayda McIntire on the Parent Portal within Illuminate Student Information System, and a Ready Now Yuma and Arizona PASS Program student profile video featuring former Kofa High School student Luis Vizcarra. In addition to the presentations, several area agencies were on hand to share their information with families. These booths included: Western Arizona Council of Governments, Portable Practical Educational Preparation, Inc., Yuma County Libraries, and Somerton Elementary Migrant Education. |
