Lobo Community Connections Night is Sept. 20

Vista High School will be putting a spin on the traditional “open house” by bringing students, parents, teachers and staff together for the school’s first Lobo Community Connections Night on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017 from 4-6 p.m.

College and career readiness will be the focus of the event, which VHS plans to hold annually. There will be representatives from local agencies discussing career pathways, including information on Career and Technical Education (CTE), dual credit enrollment and programs available through the Southwest Technical Educational District of Yuma (STEDY).

Also on hand will be Arizona Western College (AWC) and the KEYS program to help with college applications and financial aid forms.  Students will be able to create their FSA identity log on which will help them with applying for loans and/or scholarships.  If you do plan on creating or working on your account please bring parent/student social security numbers, 2016 income taxes, marital information, and have an email account. You may also visit for more details.

The VHS Art Club will have a photo booth with lots of props for fun pictures with the family. SkillsUSA and FBLA will have interactive games for the whole family. Title I and the Migrant Federal Program will have representatives answering questions about the services they offer to students and their families. Yuma County Health Department will also have information about their programs.

“This will be a great way to get students and families connected to various City of Yuma programs and local colleges in order to help the students beyond and outside of high school,” VHS principal Laura Campbell said. “This goes hand-in-hand with the new vision for Vista students to not only graduate high school, but also have college credits and/or a trade skill for employment. Teachers and Staff will be on site to greet and help with questions, so come on out and get some great information about the future.”

Vista High School is located at 2350 S. Virginia Dr. in Yuma.
