Halloween Choir Concert coming Tuesday, Oct. 30

Yuma High School Criminal Choirs will hold a Halloween-themed concert on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. in Snider Auditorium.

Tickets are $2 at the door.

The concert is expected to have a little bit of everything, from Shakespeare songs to excerpts from the Faure Requiem to some more traditional Halloween favorites. There will also be plenty of theatrics and characters, including Ghostbusters and Jack Skellington. The choir will showcase giant Dia de los Muertos puppets in the lobby. The same puppets will tour the Yuma High campus on Friday, Nov. 2 as well as Fourth Avenue Jr. High in the choir's third annual Dia de los Muertos parade.

The Oct. 30 concert, is the first Halloween-themed concert for Yuma High since Choir Director Laura Surguine arrived three years ago.

"I'm excited about this concert because we will be singing an excerpt from the Faure Requiem, which is a masterwork, and the kids sing it very well," Surguine said. "It's quite an accomplishment and really shows the group's talent."
