Yuma High art class has work displayed at Optimist Park

More than a dozen students from Yuma High School’s art class had their work installed on benches at the Sunrise Optimist Recreational Complex in Yuma.

Kassandra Martinez, Jorge Perez, Ricardo Sanchez, Jaqueline Prado, Ariana Rivera, Issac Ayon, Sonia Gaytan-Mendoza, Jessica Kolher, Julie Escobar-Rosales, Jose Monroy, Omar Dali Ojeda, Luz Ruiz Cabuto, Jesus Teresa and Jason Wilbourn from Marc Sanchez’s fifth and sixth period classes all painted original artwork that is on permanent display on benches at the park.

“The students enjoyed working on the project,” Sanchez said. “Giving them real world experience on how the process of collaborating and displaying art works within a community.”

The benches were installed at the end of March.
