Vista takes part in YUHSD Community Resource Fair
Vista High School students took part in YUHSD’s Community Resource Fair last month.
The event was an opportunity for students to connect with resource agencies across Yuma county. More than 15 agencies, ranging from Physical Health, Mental Health, Family, Work, and other community services, were in attendance.
VHS Student Council representatives assisted with setting up and taking down the event. Student council provided information about each booth and encouraged attendees to approach the booth to learn more about each resource agency.
“I liked how everyone went to each booth to learn about what each organization had to offer and how they could help,” VHS student Dalilah Gonzalez said.
The Community Resource Fair was a collaborative effort between Yuma High School Social Worker Olivia Porchas and Vista Social Worker Devin Sioma.
“It felt wonderful to see our students learning about what resources are available in our Yuma community,” Soma said. “Our students demonstrated curiosity, respectfulness and an openness to learning.”
