SLHS to host two days of music festivities

The next two nights at San Luis High School will be filled with music.

On Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017 SLHS band, choir, dance, drama and mariachi performers will be conducting their first concert of the school year. It begins at 6 p.m. in the SLHS Performing Arts Center. Admission is free and concessions will be sold during the intermission. The band and choir performances will feature popular pieces from Star Wars and Disney.

“We invite the public to come and hear first-hand the dedication that students have put into this concert,” SLHS Band Director Juan Lomeli said.

The following night, the school will host its first-ever “Desert Destruction” music festival at the school’s football field as part of a fundraiser for San Luis girls basketball and girls soccer. The event, which begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, costs $3 in advance and $4 at the gate. Machos Maestros (Mas o Menos) is the headlining act, while De La Veintiquatro, One Night Only, and Wachas Mariachi, and the SLHS marching band will also perform.
