SLHS FBLA takes four awards at regional competition¬
Four teams from San Luis High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) earned awards at the regional competition Saturday, Jan. 25 in Wickenburg, Arizona.
FBLA members from SLHS Career and Technical Education programs Business Management and Film & TV Productions competed against more than 500 students from 37 schools around the state.
From the SLHS Business Management program, the Business Graphics team took first place. Students on this team include Naiara Avila, Noelia Barragan and Valera Gamez Marquez. Also from Business Management, the Digital Photography Team competed in Commercial Photography and took third place for their portfolio. Students on this team include Valeria Gamez Marquez, Jacob Rangel and Israel Sanchez.
Zaira Gonzales is the SLHS advisor for the Business Management program. Of her students’ successes, she said, "Our students have worked really hard in preparing for this event. I am really proud to see that their perseverance and hard work has paid off. We are looking forward for other events in the future. It's an honor to be their FBLA Advisor."
From the SLHS Film & TV Production program, the Broadcast Journalism Team took first place. Students on this team include Fatima Carbajal, Ana Sanchez and Melissa Siqueiros. Also from Film & TV Production, the Digital Video Production Team took third place. Students on this team include Noelia Sebastian, David Palacios and Brenda Zamudio.
"I am very proud of our SLHS News team, as they have worked very hard and work together as a team to come up with this big accomplishment,” SLHS Advisor for Film and TV Carlos Ambriz said. “This was our first time competing in video and broadcasting, and it brings me great pleasure to see our students from San Luis do great things.”
