SLHS student wins first prize at San Luis Film Festival

San Luis High School junior Aglae Mendez was selected as a first prize winner at the San Luis Film Festival's "Sonríe San Luis" student short film competition.

Her work was showcased alongside professional filmmakers from all around the world at the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center in San Luis on Nov. 15, 2019. Mendez earned one full semester of tuition at Arizona Western College, among other accolades, for her work.

“We are very proud that she is being recognized for her talent for storytelling,” SLHS Assistant Principal Leticia Anaya said. “Aglae has shown herself to be a star in her many performances on the SLHS stage, now her growing talent for the performing arts is branching into filmmaking and directing. There is so much to be proud of here.”
