"Shrek: the Musical" is coming to SLHS

The San Luis High School Theater program and SLHS Drama Club will be presenting “Shrek: the Musical!” on Apr. 9-11, 2019 in the San Luis Auditorium.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Showtime is 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults.

It is the first musical at SLHS directed by drama teacher Tim Ames.

“I am very excited to share what we have been working on over the last few months,” Ames said. “My Play and Production class wanted to produce a musical that had a message that would speak to the imagination and tug on the heartstrings. ‘Shrek: the Musical’ has been one of my favorite modern musicals and I have always wanted to direct this great story.” Shrek poster

The heartwarming story follows an Ogre and his new and unlikely friends as they fight for the right to be themselves in spite of a vicious ruler.

Senior Joel Avila will be leading the talented cast alongside sophomore Aglae Mendez and senior Sebastian Heredia Payan.

“These three amazing actors bring excitement and joy to the stage and it’s spreading through the entire talented cast,” Ames added. “Come feel the excitement and see Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, and all the other fairytale creatures as they go on an adventure of a lifetime and learn ‘What makes us special, is what makes us strong!’”
