SLHS college-going rate tops 76%

Using data gathered on the graduating Class of 2016 from 501 high schools across the state, Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) released their annual report on college-going rates.

According to the ABOR report, 52.5 percent of students throughout Arizona enrolled in post-secondary education. However, San Luis High School had a college-going rate of 76.3 percent, or nearly 24 percent greater than the state average. 

Yuma Union High School District’s comprehensive school average is 68.05 percent, placing the District average 15.55 percent higher than the state average.

YUHSD’s five comprehensive schools had the following college-going rates:

Cibola High School – 63.5%

Gila Ridge High School – 67.9%

Kofa High School – 67.9%

San Luis High School – 76.3%

Yuma High School – 60.9%

SLHS placed seventh in the state among the 174 high schools with at least 100 students in their respective graduating classes. Out of those 174 schools, YUHSD’s five comprehensive campuses all landed in the top 45.
