Cibola football takes on Lake Havasu at NAU; game to be livestreamed

Cibola High School football will travel to Northern Arizona University’s Walkup Skydome as they take on Lake Havasu High School on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 4 p.m.

The game will be livestreamed on Prep Spotlight TV. Viewers can follow along by visiting: on game day.

“I think there are many positive aspects to playing at NAU,” said Cibola head coach Steven Fritz, who is in his first year leading the Raiders after several years as an assistant. “Looking at it from a perspective beyond football we have many student athletes that have never been to Flagstaff or north of Phoenix. This is also great opportunity for them and their families to visit a potential college campus and city to help figure out if they could see themselves there in the future. In general any way we can show the students something, or somewhere, they have never seen in a positive way it is beneficial. From a football perspective, I feel it provides the kids an opportunity to get some exposure they wouldn't normally get.”

Saturday’s game will be the second consecutive year the Raiders (1-0) have faced the Knights (0-1) at NAU. In 2018, Cibola rallied from an early deficit to bring home a 19-17 victory. The win moved the Raiders to a 6-2 record all-time against Havasu.

In week one of the new season, Cibola stormed out to a 14-0 lead against visiting Imperial. The Tigers cut the lead in half before Cibola would put them away, 21-7, in the season opener for both teams. Senior quarterback Quanah Locklear, who made his first career start on Saturday, threw for 405 yards, connecting on 16 of his 33 passes. He accounted for all three Cibola touchdowns: two through the air and one on the ground.
