Kofa JROTC continues success at Carver Mountain Rifle Competition

KHS rifle team in Laveen, AZ Kofa High School’s Marine Corps JROTC Rifle team built on its nationally ranked finish last year with a showing at their first competition of 2019-20.

Their top team, which featured Cadets Nickolas Wissler, Casey Clark, Oscar Galindo, and Daphne Rivera, finished third out of 15 schools overall at the Carver Mountain Rifle Competition on the campus of Cesar Chavez High School in Laveen, Arizona. Kofa’s group also had a number of individual top scorers at the September 28 event.

Cadet Keilem Vazquez finished first overall out of 60 shooters; Wissler received first place, while Vazquez placed second, and Rivera third in kneeling; and Galindo placed third in prone.

“We are very proud of these teams and bringing home the first Rifle trophies for our program,” Kofa MCJROTC Instructor Maj. Todd Birney said.
