Kofa art students win prizes in patriotic art contest

KHS art students pose with awards The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary to Post 8242 issued an invitation to all high school students to enter the 2018-19 Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest earlier this year.

Three Kofa High School students earned awards for their submissions.

Marilyn Garcia received the first place award of $100 from the Auxiliary for her work titled, “Unspoken Heroes.” Her work has gone on to be judged at the district level. Lizbeth Rodriguez received second place and an award of $75 for her work titled, “Halo.” Ricardo Avila received third place and a $50 award for his work titled, “FDR.”

Other students participating in the contest included Maleah LaFleur, Yuliana Ramirez, Belsy Trigueros, Kaylee Knigge, Laisha Felix, Arlette Franco, Layla Reyes, Amy Uribe, Eddie Garcia, Alayna Reyes, David Ramirez and Erika Morales. All participants received certificates and a pin.
