Kofa Student Council awarded the Council of Distinction Award

Kofa High School’s Student Council was awarded the Student Council of Distinction award by the Arizona Association of Student Councils.

The award was given for their participation in campus life and community service, and they were the only student council in Yuma to receive the association’s highest award.

"I’m proud of all the hard work Kofa's student council has put in," said Student Council advisor Lisa Jahn.

Kofa’s student council has been instrumental promoting campus happenings and planning events. They host pep rallies during each athletic season, plan events to promote student camaraderie, present at Yuma Union High School District Governing Board meetings, and much more.

The AASC was founded in 1934 by a group of educators who wanted to create an organization for student leaders that would encourage them to practice the democratic process, citizenship and service while fostering idea exchange and problem solving in the state's schools. AASC serves thousands of students and advisors from member schools all across the Grand Canyon State.
