Kofa High School hosts American Dream Academy graduation

On Wednesday, Dec. 12, Kofa High School hosted a graduation ceremony for the Arizona State University American Dream Academy program.

Ninety-five students and parents graduated from the program, which provides education for parents on the college experience and is designed to provide families with the tools needed to empower students, parents and teachers to transform expectations and learning methods, so that academic potential is maximized. Graduation from the program requires 100 percent involvement of both parents and students.

Additionally, the program offers a $4,000 scholarship to ASU for each student who participates in the program and enrolls in the university.

Kofa’s culinary program offered refreshments and cookies, and certificates of participation were awarded after an address by Kofa Principal Mike Sharp.

The American Dream Academy has had 390 families complete the program across Kofa, San Luis and Yuma high schools during the fall semester.
