KHS student wins ‘Touching Hearts Through Athletics’ award

Kofa High School senior Keiley Sharp was acknowledged by the “Touching Hearts Through Athletics” organization for her character, sportsmanship and community service.

“I am very thankful for this award,” Sharp said. “On a personal level it’s easy to play hard against your opponents, but also having that respect for your opponents is something I’ve always been able to do. Having someone who I’ve never met before notice that, it was truly an honor.”

Touching Hearts Through Athletics originated in Denver, Colorado in 2002. It is an organization created to honor and encourage student athletes to exhibit outstanding character, sportsmanship, and community service. Award winners are decided based on a nomination form filled out on the Touching Hearts website.

Sharp, who recently signed a letter of intent to attend Texas Christian University on a track and field scholarship, is one of 12 student athletes from various states who have been given the honor so far this year.
