KHS hosts successful Parent Engagement Night

On Monday, Sept. 10, Kofa High School hosted more than 80 parents for its first “Parent Engagement Night.”

Hosted in the newly constructed Kofa hospitality room, the evening started with an address from Principal Mike Sharp who covered the schools preparations for emergency procedures and answered questions from parents.

After the initial address parents were invited to attend break-out sessions that emphasized AVID learning strategies, the school’s ACT focus, freshmen support, and Student/ParentVUE. The evening was finished with a PTSO sponsored spaghetti dinner for the parents which was prepared by the students of culinary department and served by the students of the hospitality department, followed by a raffle.

“Our first Parent Engagement night was a huge success,” Sharp said. “[I’m] looking forward to having another one next month.”

Kofa plans to host its next Parent Engagement Night in October. The school will announce further details at a later date.
