Folkloric Dance Club performance kicks off string of club events

The Kofa High School Folkloric Dance Club will be taking part in a number of events over the next two weeks.

Beginning with its sprit week, the club will host a performance in the Kofa Auditorium, make an appearance at the Yuma Union High School District retirement and years of service recognition, and participate in a Mother’s Day celebration.

Their show, which takes place Friday, May 4 in the auditorium at 7 p.m., caps off spirit week and will also feature the Gadsden school Mariachi Flor del Desierto, teacher dancers, art from Kofa students and Kofa guitar players. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.

The club was formed nearly a year ago and exposes students to various styles of folkloric dance in Mexico. They participate in various events, practice dance steps, and fundraise to help fund travel to performances and costumes.
