Respiratory Virus Guidance
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), respiratory viruses such as COVID-19, influenza, and respiratory syncytial viruses (RSV) cause many illnesses yearly in the United States (Respiratory Virus Guidance, 2024). Although COVID-19 remains a significant public health threat, it is no longer the emergency it once was, and its health impacts increasingly resemble those of other respiratory viral illnesses, including influenza and RSV. As such, the Yuma Union High School District, under the guidance of the CDC, recommends the following steps to protect students and staff from health risks caused by respiratory viruses:
- Immunizations for Respiratory Viruses
- Hygiene and Respiratory Virus Prevention
- Taking Steps for Cleaner Air for Respiratory Virus Prevention
- Preventing Spread of Respiratory Viruses When You’re Sick
- Masks and Respiratory Virus Prevention
- Physical Distancing and Respiratory Viruses
- Testing and Respiratory Viruses
