Strategies for Success/SFS
The Yuma Union High School District Strategies for Success (SFS) Program provides an educational option for students who are serving a long-term suspension. While participating in the program, students continue their education in a structured learning environment while meeting the terms of their disciplinary assignment away from their home campus.
The SFS Program is designed to support students through:
- Character development
- Academic instruction and remediation, when appropriate
- Social-emotional learning
- Preparation for a successful transition back to the student's home campus
Program Features

- A smaller learning environment
- Fewer distractions
- Structured daily routines
- Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
- Community Circles
- Self-paced learning opportunities, when appropriate
Enrollment Process
Following a recommendation for long-term suspension, the student's campus administrator will meet with the student and parent/guardian to review the disciplinary action. If the family chooses to participate in the Strategies for Success Program, enrollment information will be provided at that time.

Orientation Schedule
- Monday, 8:30 a.m. – Spanish
- Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. – English
- Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. – Spanish
- Thursday, 2:00 p.m. – English
During orientation, students and parents/guardians will review the program's academic, attendance, behavioral, and participation expectations before enrollment is finalized.
Participation
Participation in the Strategies for Success Program is voluntary. Students who choose to enroll and remain in good academic and behavioral standing while meeting program expectations may continue participating in the program until they are eligible to return to their home campus.
