About Us

  • Vista Alternative High School is THE small school option within YUHSD. With an average daily enrollment of only 200 students, Vista is proud to offer YUHSD families a small school environment with high expectations for student learning and various pathways for college and career readiness. VAHS is open to Juniors and Seniors only. However, depending on circumstance, we have successfully worked with a small population of Sophomores.  Traditionally, VAHS was designed to support those students most at-risk of dropping out of high school--or those already disengaged from the district. However, today, most of our students come to Vista to experience the small school model and individualization of learning. We provide quality instruction with technology to our enrolled students. Enrollment is limited due to space constraints, however, if students are interested in attending Vista, they need to start the process by consulting with their current school guidance counselor and individually completing the Enroll portion of our site.

With student learning at the center of our work, Vista offers diverse course options, such as: all core academic classes, art classes, culinary arts courses, sociology, marketing, hospitality courses, and computer labs with ELP and A+ platforms. In addition, the Lobo Academy is anothher opportunity for students to take web-based courses every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 3:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Students can work on self-paced A+ and ELP courses with the support of certified teachers. The purpose of our Lobo Academy is to offer students another option for credit recovery/skills recovery in a non-traditional educational setting. Students work independently in small, supervised and supported classrooms. Any student interested in enrolling in our Lobo Academy will need to fill out the Enroll portion found under the "Academics" tab above and specifiy in the "Comment" section that interest is with the Lobo Academy. Of course, if you have any questions, please contact our main office at (928) 502-6800 for assistance.
