Yuma Union High School District recognizes and values the importance of extracurricular activities. Our students have opportunities to get involved in numerous areas of interest that include sports, band, choir, spirit squad, and other activities that keep them active and participating. These activities allow students to develop talents, gain confidence, and learn lifelong skills.
YUHSD schools are members of the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) and offer more than 22 AIA sanctioned activities and athletic programs over the course of three athletic seasons (Fall, Winter, and Spring). Students may participate in one sport each season. The athletic fee is $45 payable in the bookstore on each campus. Students are required to have a clearance packet with a physical completed by a U.S. doctor. The AIA “Annual Pre-participation Physical Evaluation” form must be used. Students must be cleared through their school's Athletics Office in order to participate. Please see the Online Athlete Registration section of your school's website for further information.
Many of YUHSD's athletic teams hold out-of-season activties during their offseason. Students must complete the athletic clearence process (except for paying the fee) in order to participate in any out-of-season activities.
According to AIA bylaw 17.5.1, only students who are enrolled at that member school, and home school students that the member school reasonably believes are in compliance with ARS §15-802.01, may be allowed to use that member school’s facilities for out-of-season activities. Students who will be entering a YUHSD school as Freshmen must be registered and have promoted from eighth grade before attending any out-of-season activities or tryouts.
For details about each school's athletics program, including a list of coaches, please visit their respective athletics pages online.
