- Students must be pre-screened by their parent/guardian prior to coming to school and should be symptom free prior to coming in person.
- In accordance with local ordinances and CDC recommendations, students are required to wear a facemask at all times. Facemasks should fit snugly on the students face.
- Students will need a personal water bottle to drink from and fill up throughout the day.
- Students will need their regular school supplies, school ID, netbook & charger, and student handbook to track assignments and to be used as a hall pass.
The COVID-19 waiver, release and assumption of risk form can be accessed and signed on your ParentVUE account. Furthermore, the waiver can also be downloaded and signed on yumaunion.org: https://www.yumaunion.org/domain/2491. The waiver must be signed and returned to your campus before a student can attend in-person learning.
Families who choose the distance learning on Canvas option will continue to take part in classes Monday through Friday following the bell schedule applicable to their school.
- Attendance will be taken in class by our teachers for both in person students and distance learners.
- All distance learners will be required to complete the attendance form in each of their Canvas courses for all class periods. This will need to be completed daily.
Based on the high number of students expected to return to in-person learning (approximately 63% of students across the district), 6 feet of social distancing may not be possible at all times and locations. When at school staff members will educate and remind students regularly to maintain at least 6 feet of distance between individuals whenever possible. Student seating, when possible, will be arranged to maintain as much physical distance as possible. Where possible, social distancing will be maintained in open or common areas, such as hallways, stairwells, cafeterias, and gymnasiums.

YUHSD will ensure that students with IEPs are provided the special education and related services identified in their IEP, to the greatest extent possible. Continued educational opportunities must be individualized based on student need.
Students are required to wear a face covering at all times while on YUHSD property or participating in school activities, per YUHSD Governing Board Regulation JICA-RB. The covering should fit snugly on all sides of the face, including mouth and nose, with no gaps, exhalation valves, or vents.
Students will be requested to bring their own cloth face coverings to and from school. Schools will attempt, when feasibly possible, to have a supply of face coverings available to provide students who cannot afford or do not have their own.
Students who refuse to comply with the safety protocols adopted for in-person learning will be assigned to an online learning program pursuant to A.R.S. 15-841(F).
No. Students will transition between class periods throughout their day on campus.
Yes, all students taking part in distance learning (on Canvas or through Yuma Online Distance Academy) will have the opportunity to pick up no-cost breakfast and lunch via drive-thru lane. A student ID will be required for grab-and-go service.
Transportation will be provided, but could be impacted by the number of drivers available on a given day. If a bus route is canceled for the day, your family will be contacted via the Blackboard Connect messaging system.
Students who attend Vista High School are able to commute to school via a no-cost bus pass through Yuma County Area Transit. Please contact the Vista High School office at (928) 502-6800 for more information.
We are committed to support the learning of all student and ensuring equitable learning opportunities to enable students with disabilities to progress in meeting learning needs and social emotional learning continues to be the aim of IEP and 504 teams. Our Return to Learning Plan relies heavily on decisions made by each student’s IEP or 504 team.
Throughout the duration of the school year, parents and families can expect the following:
- Parents must be involved in any decision about an individual child’s placement or services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) or Section 504.
- The IEP team will review the specialized services and supports prescribed in the current IEP. They will also document the status of the services and supports during the school closure, as well as the effect of that level of support and service. IEP teams will then ascertain individual needs and determine if the IEP should be amended or rewritten to reflect changes to services and supports, which will include a fully virtual learning plan that can be implemented at any time, if needed.\
- Special education teachers will continue to collaborate with general education teachers to provide scaffolds, accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities in both physical and virtual settings. Special education teachers will communicate frequently with families to ensure student needs are being met in both the physical and virtual settings.

- Distance yourself from others, including staying in groups of fewer than 10 people at once.

FACT: People—including those of Asian descent—who have not recently traveled to China or been in contact with a person who is a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 are not at greater risk of acquiring and spreading COVID-19 than other Americans.
Speak out against negative behaviors, including negative statements on social media about groups of people, or exclusion of people, who pose no risk from regular activities.
- If you see someone being treated unfairly, do not stay silent.
- If you feel comfortable, you can firmly but calmly tell the person to stop.
- If you don’t want to talk to the person who is harassing someone, you can also focus on the individual who is being treated unfairly. Make small talk, ask them how their day is going, and ignore the person harassing them.
- Tips for bystanders are simple actions anyone can use.

- If you see someone being treated unfairly, do not stay silent.
