AVID - Advancement Via individual Determination
-
AVID is an acronym for Advancement Via Individual Determination. We encourage interested students to learn more about our program.
Our Mission
This is an elective course for motivated students who are interested and committed to preparing for a post secondary education. Students who participate in AVID are required to stay in the program throughout their high school career in order to utilize the full extent of the resources provided by the organization. Therefore, the AVID elective class centers on teaching students proper note taking skills, time management, organization, essay writing, and critical thinking to help them prepare for college. To optimize student engagement and success, AVID students receive twice a week access to college tutors as well as planned college visits. Students with good attendance, positive attitude, and a GPA between 2.0-3.5 are encouraged to apply. We will provide them with the support system to ensure their academic success.
